Many of you use the data from the FirstGiving reporting area to integrate with your database or complete mail merges. Processing a lot of data by hand can be time consuming and frustrating, so we have made your life a little easier.
Previously, when a donor or fundraiser made a donation or created a page, the data was entered into our system as is. Now, all information is automatically cleaned up, with proper capitalization and appropriate abbreviations. In other words, we did spring cleaning a little early this year.
In the new nonprofit account area you will find:
- Clean capitalization: Only the first letter of names, streets, and cites/towns are capitalized.
- Uniform abbreviations: Street designations are now abbreviated. For example, “Street” automatically becomes “St.”
- Titles: If a fundraiser or donor doesn’t select a title, such as “Mr.” or Mrs.,” there is a blank field in the title column.
These changes will help you when it comes to importing data into a mail merge or database. Go to your new nonprofit account area by clicking the button above or by logging in at www.firstgiving.com/login. Your login is the same as before, as is all your reporting data.
Happy fundraising,
