Each month, we highlight a couple of our nonprofit partners who have unique fundraising events, great success stories, or something else fantastic going on that we’d like to tell you about. Next up in our nonprofit spotlight fundraising series is Samaritan’s Purse.
Since 1974 Samaritan’s Purse has followed Jesus parable of The Good Samaritan, by giving to the worlds poor, sick and suffering. They strive to enrich the lives of chilren by offering clothes, food, medical care, and education.
“Our emergency relief programs provide desperately needed assistance to victims of natural disaster, war, disease, and famine. As we offer food, water, and temporary shelter, we meet critical needs and give people a chance to rebuild their lives. Our community development and vocational programs in impoverished villages and neighborhoods help people break the cycle of poverty and give them hope for a better tomorrow. ” -Samaritan’s Purse
Samaritan’s Purse is using FirstGiving to build awareness and raise funds for people all over the world. Jonathan Acuff is the creator of the popular blog Stuff Christians Like, and he is raising money to build two kindergarten schools in the Hoang Then Village in the northwest section of Vietnam. The schools will educate over 200 children. Jonathan has chosen $60,000 as his fundraising goal, the total cost of construction for the two schools. He has already raised over $46,000 and he would like to raise the rest by December 31, 2009.
Kudos to Jonathan and Samaritan’s Purse!
