One of the best ways to ensure a successful fundraising event is to establish expectations for your fundraisers. Suggesting a goal for your fundraisers is an important step towards reaching your event’s overall goal.
Here’s a couple of easy ways to figure out and set a goal for your fundraisers:
- Divide your event’s overall goal by the number of people you expect to actively fundraise.
- Take the average amount raised by each fundraiser at last year’s event and consider how much more you’d like to grow this year’s event. Add the difference per person to last year’s average amount raised to come up with this year’s goal for fundraisers.
The average FirstGiving fundraiser raises $400, so don’t be afraid to ask your fundraiser to aim high.
Here’s an example of how one of our nonprofit partners included a suggested goal for their event’s fundraisers:
How Do I Set My Fundraising Goal?
A suggested Team Goal is $1000. Consider asking 10 people for $100, 20 people for $50, or 40 people for $25. You will be surprised how many of those people will recruit others to the cause. Try to estimate a realistic amount and your Team can celebrate exceeding it! Consider Facebook, MySpace and other social networking sites when thinking of those to contact.
Pointing your supporters in the right direction will keep them motivated and help them understand the size and value of their role in this fundraising event.
