Each month we highlight a couple of our nonprofit partners who have unique fundraising events, great success stories, or something else fantastic going on that we’d like to tell you about. Next up in our nonprofit fundraising series, the nonprofit spotlight, is The Essex County Community Foundation and Reid’s Ride, which benefits the Reid R. Sacco Memorial Cancer Research Fund.
Reid’s Ride is a 28 mile bike ride that starts in Reid Sacco’s home town of Lynnfield, MA. From the starting line, cyclists travel up the Cape Ann Coast of Massachusetts and cross the finish line in Gloucester. The moderately challenging course passes through steep hills, town centers, coastal views, and peaceful woods. The 5th annual fundraising event raised over $90,000 and had over 340 riders!
The Reid R. Sacco Memorial Cancer Research Fund was created in memorial of Reid Sacco, who lost his two-year battle with Sarcoma in 2005. The foundation supports two goals that Reid fought hard to achieve: college education and cancer survival. To that end, the foundation grants a scholarship to a recipient that displays academic excellence, peer leadership, pursuit of good health and outstanding character. Reid was an exceptional young man who exemplified these qualities, and the award is given in his honor.
Kudos! Congratulations on a successful fundraising event!
