Nonprofit spotlight: Ele’s Place

NPOspotlightEach month we highlight a couple of our nonprofit partners who have unique fundraising events, great success stories, or something else fantastic going on that we’d like to tell you about. Next up in our nonprofit fundraising series, the nonprofit spotlight, is Ele’s Place and their Ele’s Race 5k Run/Walk.

ELE stands for Embracing Loss Effectively, and that is just what the people do at Ele’s Place.  Their program is committed to creating awareness and offering support to grieving children.  Through peer support programs, children are able to cope and understand a family member’s death or life threatening illness.  Children sometimes feel so alone, afraid and lost after a traumatic life experience, but each week over 250 children are offered a warm place to meet new friends and talk to people who truly understand their suffering.  Ele’s place was also named in memory of Ele Stover who passed away at only 11 months old in 1989.

Ele’s Race is a fun family day equipped with a race, a children’s race, entertainment, prizes and most importantly healing.  The race is held every summer and helps raise awareness for Ele’s Place.  This year their event is being held at Jackson Life Insurance Headquarters in Lansing, Michigan on Sunday July 26th.  If you are local to the area register here.  They have already raised over $10,000 though Fristgiving and still have a week before the event.

Keep it up Ele’s Place!
