BFF: Fundraising for the Silver Screen

I have a BFF (best friend forever) who is a serious movie buff.  He’s a great guy, but he’s not a fundraiser like this BFF:

Last month the independent Brattle Theatre in Harvard Square sponsored a dream event for filmophiles: a 30-day Watch-a-Thon fundraiser.

BFF’s Watch-a-Thon is a great example of a virtual event that harnesses the power of online fundraising.  A bunch of BFF’s fans decided to raise more money online for the theatre’s programming by creating their own fundraising pages. One of these fans is Brian Paik, who may well be the BFF of the BFF:

The Brattle is a unique, modest little theater located in Harvard Square.  Up on the screen are the coolest, smartest, classiest, campiest, funniest, and scariest rectangles of light in Boston.

What would I do without the Brattle? I’m pretty sure no one wants to know. Really.  I mean, isn’t your mind more at ease knowing that I’m preoccupied with my movies, rather than otherwise engaged in some shadowy, unknown, shenanigans? …left to my own devices?

Brian has raised over $2500 for the Brattle, and his fundraising page is a thoroughly entertaining read.  It appears that he has quite a reputation as a film enthusiast–we especially liked the comments from his Mom and Dad.

The Watch-a-Thon has concluded, but BFF’s Firstgiving pages are still accepting donations!
