Awards for athletic fundraisers

Everybody likes to be recognized for good work.  At Firstgiving, we often encourage nonprofit organizations to run little fundraising contests to get people motivated, and to give small awards or recognition to those who raise the most, get the most donations, or just have the most inspiring fundraising page.  It’s one of our favorite and most effective fundraising tips.  This summer, we ran a series of social media fundraising promotions to help our fundraisers and NPOs learn more about how to use the new social media tools for fundraising excellence.  And just now, we’ve learned of two awards that you might want to enter or nominate somebody for, both from our friends at the Run Walk Ride fundraising council.

First, there’s the Pacesetter Awards.  These are for the best athletic fundraising programs, and NPOs, businesses and creative agencies are eligible for winning in several categories such as best recruitment campaign, best t-shirt design, and more.  The entry deadline is November 19 and details are on RWR’s web site.

The other award is called Cash Sweat & TearsTeam Firstgiving knows a thing or two about that.  This award is for an athletic fundraiser who has done something truly exceptional and inspirational.  Fundraisers have to be nominated by their NPO or event organizer, and they stand to win a $500 donation and some gear from New Balance! Nominations are due December 15.

If you’re a fundraiser and you think your fundraising and athletic performance was exceptional, don’t be shy, ask your NPO or event organizer to nominate you.  There’s nothing to lose, and a donation to the cause to gain.
