Why are you fundraising?
I fundraise to acknowledge special times or moments in my life or in honor of something that means a lot to me.
How did you choose to fundraise for your nonprofit and why?
My first fundraiser was to celebrate graduating from college, moving to Israel with my dog, Leroy, and declaring Israeli citizenship. I chose to raise money for the Israel Guide Dog Center for the Blind because of the amazing work they do at establishing connections between humans and animals.
I also felt a shared theme of independence- my newfound independence here in Tel Aviv and the independence that visually impaired person receives when using a guide dog for the first time.
What are your fundraising goals?
It depends on the fundraiser- it could be to reach a specific monetary level, or simply to inform people of a certain organization that I admire or support. Depending on the organization, a little money can go a long way.
What are some of the things you have done that have helped you raise money?
I post my fundraisers on my blog, which is where my family and friends can read about what is going on in my life here in Israel. I also use the Firstgiving facebook application, where many more of my friends can see that I am fundraising.
How has Firstgiving helped you raise more money?
My firstgiving page makes it very easy for people to make donations and stay updated on the progress of the fundraiser.
