When thoughts become things

In the case of the TUT’s Adventurers Club, thoughts can become really BIG things! That’s right, it is already mid-July (can you believe it?!) and the Club’s Gifts from the Universe monthly Charity is thriving. In 22 days, the fundraiser for Doctors without Borders has raised under $15,000!

I contacted Crystal Floyd, creator of the Gifts from the Universe Project, to get a better understanding of how the Club generates its tremendous response. Apparently TUT sends out daily inspirational e-mails called “Notes from the Universe.” These free e-mails were created by Mike Dooley, one of the founding members of TUT’s Adventurers Club, and they have grown in their outreach from 36 to 200,000 subscribers in just seven years.

“People are crazy about their notes!” Crystal told me. “They are funny and so inspirational.  They remind us all of our place in the world and the power that we each have to fantastically perpetuate our dreams and the Universe is our space for creative play.  Plus they arouse the belongingness and the likeness to all others around us.”

After hearing Crystal’s rave review as well as witnessing the fundraiser’s huge success, my curiosity got the better of me and I signed up to receive these free e-mails. They are brief, witty, and remind you to take a moment from your busy life to observe your role in the world around you. I look forward to my e-mail each day as a small dose of optimism that I can’t help but feel uplifted by.  As my note said the other day, “be reminded of your divinity, grace, and power every single day.”

If you could use a little extra optimism in your life, I recommend you subscribe to these notes. Thousands of people are jumping on the bandwagon and being inspired to donate to worthy causes, such as Doctors without Borders. The TUT’s Adventurers Club can also serve as a prime example of marketing your fundraiser. Not only do they make themselves accessible to their subscribers, but they have spurred strong feeling of togetherness: the heart and soul of charitable giving. When you can relate to others and realize that they are sharing this planet with you, the desire to help can be overwhelming.

As “the Universe” told me last week, “Ten thousand years from now, your presence will still be felt, your name will still be whispered, and your goodness will still be expanding.” Whether you believe that or not, you cannot deny that a little part of you hopes that is true.
