You may be familiar with the semi-recently published book, The Tipping Point, authored by Malcolm Gladwell. The book is based around the ”tipping point” term as it is defined in sociology, the moment when something previously unique becomes common.
We often come across Firstgiving fundraisers who reach the tipping point on their fundraising pages, with ideas we only wish we would have thought of. Unique, individual donations, large and small, begin to build up until the response from a fundraiser’s donor network becomes a common one. In fact, sometimes our fundraisers exceed their own expectations!
Below are a few examples of firstgiving pages with donations exceeding their fundraising goals:
Marc Turgeon’s Boston Marathon fundraiser for Friends of Ladders.
Louis Mongello’s DisneyWorldTrivia Dream Team project for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Our own David Karp’s 10th annual 29th birthday for the American Heart Association.
Kudos to you, valiant fundraisers, and to your enthusiastic donors :).
And here are a couple of pages that are close to the tipping point; you can help put them over if you feel so inclined:
Drew Goodman’s fundraising page for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.
Madrona Girl Scouts fundraising page for Water First International.
Set your sights high, fundraisers; here’s to reaching the tipping point!
