We Are Victory

Last night, 12 Firstgiving members went out by the Charles River and took part in the 2007 Reggae Ramble.  Obviously – being the smart troop of people we are – we decided that we wouldn’t take part in any normal 5k race, but being the enterprising troop that we are we ran a race that included a post-run meal of Jamaican bliss and Harpoon UFO’s.

It was a great time, and all arranged by our Firstgiving fearless leader of fitness, Beth Blake (thanks, Beth!).  We all left the office in various vehicles.  I (along with Alison) was hanging on for dear life in Susannah’s Jetta while we tried to keep up with Mark and Yvette!

Before the race, we all gathered and some stretching took place, while Susannah matched her wits against the shoe wallet (she lost) and Maggi conquered the shoe wallet! The race was a good time with Karima and James running neck and neck for Firstgiving first place. Yvette, Alison and I elected to walk a shorter distance in lieu of the 4.6 mile extravaganza in the heat.  It was glorious.  We got to grab some photos are our slightly more motivated co-workers ran to to victory.   Yvette sported her first number and gloriously crossed the finish line! The night ended up cooling down and it ended up not being that muggy.

The food was amazing and they surprisingly had a ton of vegetarian options!  We feasted on plantains, red beans and rice, and bananas.  There was bbq chicken and pork spiced to a delightful HOT!  They had a live band playing Bob Marley covers and some other good reggae music.

Again, thanks Beth for organizing such a fun Firstgiving extravaganza!
