FOTW or This Man is Awesome

Hooray for the Fundraiser of the Week!

We have selected Reverend Jeremy Montgomery of the First Baptist Church of Westfield as our man of the week!   He has surpassed his total goal ($1,500) with a mixture of online and offline donations raising $1,270 of his goal online!  The entire team at First Baptist Church of Westfield  raised $11,705  total and of that $6,120.00 online!  In this years 30 hour famine, a total of 10 churches of all denominations (catholic, methodist, baptist,
presbyterian, etc.) did the Famine with First Baptist, raising (so far) a total of $32,000.  His brilliant use of video (on MySpace) along with a great personal message really struck a cord with us! We love to see amazing people reach their goals and Jeremy definitely did! Jeremy, you are THE MAN!

The 30 Hour Famine
The event that Jeremy raised money for was the 30 Hour Famine, a campaign that helps middle  and high schoolers work together to help end hunger.  It’s a way for student across the country, THE WORLD, to come together in spirit for a cause they feel passionate about and show people that the youth of this world are inspired to make change and see that change happen.  It’s also away for different church denominations to band together for an amazing cause.  The Reverend works to recruit different church in the area to come together for the famine. Jeremy and his team did their 30 Hour Famine in February, but another for is scheduled for the end of April.  You can find out more information here.

Hats off to Jeremy and his fantastic team at First Baptist!

In 2005, Jeremy along with 14 others went to Kenya to see how the money that they raised for World Vision was being used in developing nations.
